Naverisk releases 2021 R2 and 2022 R1 have a built-in feature that allows you to upgrade or uninstall 3rd party software and uninstall operating system patches.

Windows Package Manager (Winget) Capabilities.

  • Automated Windows Package Manager deployment across some devices.

  • Full software inventory across some devices.

  • Uninstall one or more software packages.

  • Uninstall one or more Operating System patches.

Updating your 3rd Party Software

To update 3rd party software you must first select it from the software window. Then click the 'update selected software' option in the task dropdown from the top right corner (see image below).

NB: You can only update 3rd party software that displays an available update (see image below).

Device selection

Once you have selected your software and clicked on the 'update selected software' option, you will get a window (see image below) displaying devices available for the update.

The devices must meet the following requirements:

  • Devices must be online and operational.

  • Workstations must have Windows 10 or higher Operating System.

  • Servers must have Windows Server 2022.

Automated Ticketing and Emails

From this dialogue box, you can do the following:

  • Create tickets for audit and billing purposes. Individual tickets will be created for each client listing all devices having updates applied.

  • Send an email to the software management task initiator (populated by default) or any other email address listing all clients and devices undergoing software management tasks.

Update Progress and Status

Go to the Audit tab of the selected devices to check the progress and status of the selected software updates. (see images below)

Uninstalling 3rd Party Software

To uninstall 3rd party software, you must first select it from the software window and then select 'uninstall selected software' from the 'select task' drop-down menu (see image below).

Once you have selected the software and clicked on the 'uninstall selected software' option, you will get a window (see image below) displaying devices available which have the software for removal.

Select your device and then click the Uninstall button. Devices must be online for the application to uninstall.

Uninstalling Operating System Patches

Operating system patches can be uninstalled from two locations.

Device Page

Select the operating system patch you wish to remove from the device page, then click the 'uninstall application' button (see image below).

Software Page

To uninstall operating system patches, you must first select it from the software window and then select 'uninstall selected software' from the 'select task' drop-down menu (see below image).

Once you have selected a patch or patches and clicked on the 'uninstall selected software' option, you will get a window (see image below) displaying devices available which have the patch or patches for removal.

Select your device and then click the Uninstall button. Devices must be online for the patch or patches to uninstall. You can check the uninstall status in the audit tab of the device as per the Update Progress and Status section.
